The much-awaited sequel to the 2005 blockbuster No Entry has hit yet another roadblock. After Diljit Dosanjh’s exit earlier this month, reports now confirm that Varun Dhawan has also stepped away from No Entry 2, dealing a major blow to one of Bollywood’s most anticipated comedy projects.
Project Background
Directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Boney Kapoor, No Entry 2 was expected to revive one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises. The sequel was initially set to feature a fresh trio — Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Arjun Kapoor — stepping into the shoes of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan from the original 2005 hit.
The film was scheduled to go on floors in early 2026, with a massive ensemble cast and a high-budget comic narrative. However, the project now seems to be in jeopardy following two major exits in quick succession.
Why Varun Dhawan Backed Out
According to industry insiders, Varun Dhawan opted out due to scheduling conflicts and concerns over creative differences regarding the film’s script. Sources close to the actor revealed that Varun, who is currently busy with multiple big-banner projects, wasn’t satisfied with the direction the sequel was taking.
An insider shared, “Varun was very excited about No Entry 2 initially, but as the script underwent changes, he felt it wasn’t aligning with his current film choices. He has decided to focus on other upcoming projects, including a major action thriller lined up for mid-2026.”
Diljit’s Exit Adds to the Woes
Earlier, Diljit Dosanjh had walked out citing date clashes with his global music tour and commitments to other films. His exit was reportedly a big shock for the production team, as he was expected to bring fresh energy and musical charisma to the comedy.
What’s Next for No Entry 2?
With two of its three lead actors now out, No Entry 2 faces an uncertain future. Director Anees Bazmee is reportedly in talks with new-generation stars to fill the gap, though no names have been officially confirmed yet.
Despite the setback, producer Boney Kapoor remains optimistic. In a recent interview, he hinted that the film might undergo a complete casting and script revamp before moving ahead.
“The spirit of No Entry is all about fun and madness. We’ll bring it back in the best way possible,” Kapoor said.
The Legacy of No Entry
The original No Entry (2005), starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol, and Celina Jaitley, was a massive box-office hit and remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy films. Fans have been eagerly waiting for its sequel for nearly two decades — but with repeated delays and cast exits, the wait might just get a little longer.
