Eligibility Criteria (As on 01 Jul 2026 for Age Limit)
1. Age Limit:
General Duty (GD) & Technical (Engineering/Electrical/Electronics): Candidates must be born between 01 July 2001 and 30 June 2005 (both dates inclusive).
Age relaxation of 5 years for personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent in Army/Navy/Air Force.
2. Educational Qualification:
General Duty (GD):
Should hold a Graduate Degree from a recognized university with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
Must have studied Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to Intermediate (10+2) or Class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent.
Technical (Engineering & Electrical/Electronics):
Should hold an Engineering Degree (B.E./B.Tech) with minimum 60% aggregate marks in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Communication, Power Engineering, or Power Electronics.
Must have studied Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to Intermediate (10+2) or Class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent.

Selection Process (CGCAT 2027 Batch)
The selection process for Assistant Commandant is a multi-stage procedure designed to identify the most suitable candidates:
Stage-I: CGCAT (Computer Based Screening Test):
Objective type, 100 MCQs, 400 marks, 2 hours duration.
Negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
Conducted at various centres across India (tentative date: September 18, 2025).
Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB):
Shortlisted candidates from Stage-I undergo a Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). (Tentative: November 2025).
Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB):
Conducted at Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB), Noida.
Includes Psychological Test, Group Tasks, and Interview (Personality Test). Lasts for 5 days. (Tentative: January 2026 - October 2026).
Stage-IV: Medical Examination:
Candidates recommended by FSB undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. (Tentative: March 2026 - April 2026).
Stage-V: Induction:
Medically fit candidates on the All India Merit List are provisionally selected for training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala. (Tentative: December 2026, Training commences January 2027).
